Background and Experience

Angie Thames is the Founder and Managing Director of Thames Private Wealth Strategies &Partners. She holds both the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Tax Planning Certified Professional® designations with over 25 years of experience in the financial industry. Her primary focus is building genuine relationships with her clients and creating a comfortable space for meaningful conversations about what matters most to them.

Through a refined and strategic planning process she helps clients with defining their goals and then develops personalized wealth strategies to help them in achieving their dreams.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of South Carolina and later received her MBA from the Darla Moore School of Business. Her background in financial services, leadership and client care continues to shape her thoughtful and relationship-driven approach.

Away from the Office

Angie enjoys supporting her friends in education, having served on the Academy of Finance Board for Columbia High School as well as “Principal for a Day” on multiple occasions in Richland One School District. She was named Richland County School District One Business Partner of the Year for the 2018-2019 academic year. Angie is also enthusiastic about the benefits of physical activity and fitness. She was Board Chair for Girls on the Run of Columbia, a transformational youth development program for girls in grades 3 through 8.

When she’s away from the office, Angie enjoys spending time with friends and family, running through downtown Columbia, and training for destination marathons alongside her Rhodesian Ridgeback, Bodhi.
